I just noticed that Dell Refurbished added this system to their hot deals section within the past day. This is considered a power workstation from about six years ago. The bonus is that it comes with an Nvidia Quadro M2000 video card.
For anyone looking for a cheap alternative to buying a NAS or building a Plex/Emby/Jellyfin server that can handle 4K transcoding, this would be a great option for $250. You would only need to add your own storage.
Software like Unraid or TrueNAS could be used for setting up a storage server for various types of media that can be served out using the Plex/Emby/Jellyfin media server softwares.
As mentioned before, the bonus in getting this system is that it comes with an Nvidia Quadro M2000 4GB video card. It’s not high end or even great for gaming, but it should be able to handle 1080p and 4K transcoding well.
According to the site below, the M2000 supports H265 and approximately 13-17 H264 streams at once.
