ZTE Axon Ultra 30 is on sale right now at $200 off which is an okay deal in itself but it looks like they will be having flash sales through the end of November where you have the opportunity to get the device at half price making it extremely spicy for anyone interested in a phone with flagship specs without the premium cost. PS. I am aware of the grammatical errors on their site, I know it does not give a vote of confidence but this is definitely their official site.

Key Features Include:
– Snapdragon 888, 8GB RAM/128GB Storage
– 144 Hz 1080p OLED display
– 65 W Fast charging
– 64 MP quad camera

The phone is well reviewed and I personally have been using it on Fido since it’s initial release in July without issue. I mainly purchased this device because the Axon 7 was my favourite phone of all time, I knew the Ultra 30 was their attempt back into the North American market so I figured they would come out swinging. They mostly succeeded but there are some things I think people should consider before purchasing which I will list below.

Things to note/consider:
– No VoLTE, Wifi Calling with majority of carriers – the phone has the features but it is disabled by most carriers.
this is not unique to this device, this happens to majority of international models
– 5G is Moot – phone offers 5G but is unsupported by carriers in Canada
– not great on Freedom if you do not have sufficient 3G where you live
– 144Hz is not supported by most Apps, you’ll likely be on 120Hz majority of the time which is still buttery
– Phone is well built but the edges are a bit sharp, this won’t be an issue with a case (the phone comes with one but there aren’t many purchasable ones beyond the basic TPU out there in the wild)
– the phone comes with the 65w power brick!
– The camera is great and well reviewed but if you are use to the high end Samsung, Apple, Pixels it may feel not as consistent. Also the camera doesn’t bother with over saturating your photos, this does give it a more naturalistic appeal but it may look off depending what you are use to. Honestly though at the sale price the camera is a win.
– MyOS is an extremely light skin on top of Android with honestly some good enhancements, there is no added bloatware and you do get access to all of Google.
– ZTE does not have the greatest track record with updates. Although I will say I have been pleasantly surprised, I have received 3 updates since launch and am currently sitting on the October security patch. So no guarantees in long term updates.
– Support is a mixed bag, the number on their site did not work last time I tried so currently support is only available through Chat/Email. They are responsive and do seem eager to help but you are definitely speaking with someone out of country. Also if you require a repair you will have to ship to China and likely eat the cost of that as well.
– Haptics aren’t great, this is only thing that truly let me down on the phone. So just wanted to make sure I got in there, if you are coming from a Samsung, Apple, Pixel you’ll literally feel it.
– Here is Kimovil carrier compatibility if you are interested- https://www.kimovil.com/en/frequency-ch … n-30-ultra
– I do not know how their “flash” sales will work, so best to be on their site that day to find out.
– You will likely get some duties, I paid $30 when I bought it full price

All in all a fiery deal and well worth it at the discounted price.
