I found out today that National Bank will be having a cashback + FYF offer on their travel cards (Platinum, World, and World Elite). The offer will run from October 26 to January 31, 2020.
For all three cards, you will get $300 cashback with $4000 spend over 3 months plus first year free. Only condition is that you can’t have held a NBC credit card in the last 24 months.
If you are going for this promo, the only card worth getting in my opinion is the World Elite. Earning rate is nothing special but the travel insurance coverage plus the $250 annual smart traveler credit is pretty good. The World Elite isn’t the card for you if you’re looking for a lot of rewards but I use the card a lot for booking travel as the insurance coverage is one of the best in Canada plus the $250 credit is pretty sweet.
If you play your cards right with the promo, you can get $300 credit + $150 Annual fee rebate + $250 Travel fee reimbursement for a total of $700. This could be a good alternative to the HSBC WE offer if you value cashback over points.
