  • Pandemic – On the Brink: Mutation

My commentary:
  • Scythe is one of the best boardgames, with a moderate level of complexity, and the digital adaptation is no slouch.
  • Game of Thrones is essentially an asymmetrical Risk with some added complexity and game theory thrown in, fairly solid.
  • Terraforming Mars has too many mechanics going on, there are better takes on the genre in my opinion (e.g. Race for the Galaxy), but can be addictive if you’re willing to dig in.
  • Ticket to Ride is an approachable classic, good for players of multiple skill levels – not too complex, but still satisfying. Europe “DLC” is one of the physical base versions, and is the essential map.
  • Pandemic is one of the most popular co-op games, but suffers a bit from games being won or lost often fairly early in the session.
  • Small World is approachable and fairly fun. Not the most balanced game, but some solid interplayer dynamics. Digital version here is a bit buggy, FYI, but playable. DLC are not great and inessential.
  • Carcassonne is a classic, very easy to learn. Lots of people prefer the digital version for ease of scorekeeping.
  • Splendor is boring.
