This is an expensive jack compared to 2 ton plus jacks from Princess Auto, Canadian Tire, and Costco. If you can’t pick it up at the border, I think shipping and taxes kills this deal. I was able to get free shipping to Point Roberts and wasn’t charged taxes and duty, so I got it for under CAD$170.
I looked at other aluminum jacks but they’re all pretty heavy at 50+lbs. I wanted a jack that’s light and compact to move in and out of storage or transport around. This jack is quite compact at 10″ W x 20″ D and under 30lbs.
From what I’ve gathered, most jacks these days are made in China with dodgy QC, build quality and parts. Most cheap aluminum jacks are considered throwaway since parts can be hard to find and some cannot be rebuilt. This AFF jack is made in China but the build quality looks very good, AFF claims their jacks are built for professional use and meet ASME standards. Parts like seal kits appear to be available online, so it should be rebuildable.
