Amazon product: Western Digital Red 4 TB 3.5-Inch SATA 6GB/s NAS Hard Drive (WD40EFRX)
(Note: I make it a habit to only review products after 1 year or more. Who cares if a product works well within its first week? lol) | These drives are solid. I’ve been a fan of WD since the late 90s and their units have held up well. I have 4 of these running in RAID5 in my NAS and they’ve given me no issues. They’re fast enough and get the job done. | When I registered them online, the warranty started from the manufactured date rather than the purchase date (a difference of 3 months) but I contacted WD and with proof of purchase + pictures of the serial numbers, they updated the warranties no problem. | Personally I don’t think there’s a need for the Red PRO series unless the additional 2 year warranty is what you’re after.
