Amazon product: WD Red 8TB NAS Internal Hard Drive – 5400 RPM Class, SATA 6 Gb/s, 256 MB Cache, 3.5″ – WD80EFAX
Customer Reviews:
Have some 12 RED drives purchased over the last 3 years. Most are in a QNAP NAS in RAID 5 (3TB, 4TB, 6TB and 8TB WD RED drives purchased) and have had no failures. I do not put hot-spare drives in my NAS and instead put the same size drive in my PC to use. If I ever have a drive fail in my NAS, I can evacuate the PC drive of the same size and then pop it in the NAS to rebuild the RAID 5. That’s the plan, but I have not had any failures of the WD drives, way better than Seagate drives which I have had 6 drives fail in 5 years (most under warranty) When these WD RED NAS drives are selling for similar prices as regular desktop drives pick them up…
