At the risk of getting a bunch of “I can buy a 2000 lumen flashlight at Dollarama for $5” posts, I’m going to post a deal about an “enthusiast” flashlight called Lumintop FW3A.

The deal is: $20 off the price of ones of these: (regular $62.99 – $20.00) coupon ( shows up in final checkout )

Also note: no taxes are charged on checkout, so price is all-in

The unprotected flat top 18650 genuine Samsung cell is INCLUDED but you have to supply a charger.

If you add this to your cart, https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07YZ12799/ref … ANPW02FVGU you get it to free (in final cart)

edit: also add the coupon for $5 and get off the total order making it $37.99!!!

It’s supposed to be worth $20, but it’s a nice little bonus as you are getting the FW3A at a good price already.

So what’s so special about this FW3A. Long story short, it’s a flashlight designed by a bunch of flashlight hobbyists. Namely budgetlightforum . It has a crazy number of features, and everything is highly customizable in terms of modes due to its customized (open source) firmware

Downsides of this flashlight:
It may take a while to understand how to use all the features, but mostly you can ignore most of the features and it works fine if you just want to use it as a basic flashlight: click on and off, and hold to ramp up and down.

In full turbo mode, it gets so hot that it could literally start a fire, so it’s no toy. You should only activate full brightness for short periods of time, it ramps down in brightness to preserve the battery and temperature quickly, because a little flashlight like this has no way of dissipating the heat from its 3 LEDs.

Lastly, this comes with various LEDs from Neutral white and Nichia LED, but this amazon listing only has 6500k cool white (around 70 CRI). I don’t mind cool tints but I’m sure tint zealots will chime in and rag on it. If you want to order the other variants (LEDs, different colors, titanium body etc, you can go to the official Lumintop Store on Aliexpress.

Doesn’t come with a charger, you supply your own.

The other thing is that the electronic switch is very easy to activate, so be careful you don’t set your pants on fire if you pocket carry this. You can activate a lockout mode if you are worried about it.

Reviews: Since this is an highly popular light, reviews are everywhere. Here’s a sample

Customer Reviews:
First off i have reviewed the good Fw3a in late 2019 and liked it a lot. So this review will not be different. | The only real difference is that the Fw3e has no internal sleeve ! So less part and o-ring. This is and advantage. The trade off is that you have to use the included 18650, it is made specially to work with the e-switch without the need of the sleeve. | Short review: Community driven flashlight with a lot of features. | Long review: Box: Flashlight , include 2 Spares o-rings, and a pocket clip, a Lumintop 18650 (you need to use this battery) , manual. Good packaging with thick protective foam for protecting during shipping. | First impressions: Fit anf finish is very sleek, anodisation is evenly made and all edges are rounded. The color is a light grey with bluish tone black and a semi-gloss finish. It is a metal tail switch (e-switch) with a short travel. The feel in hand is nice with a light knurling near the head and the tail. This is a compact 18650 light wit a lenght of 93 mm and diameter is 25mm. 53 grams without cell. | Physical specs: Led is a Cree XPL-HI. Temp is stated for 6500k (70 CRI) and is accurate to my eyes. Nice ultra-white with hint of blue. The beam is mostly flood, with an undefined hotspot, very good beam for EDC .The clip is removable and intended for bezel down carry. There is no magnet in the tailcap due to being a tail clicky. The max throw is 200 meters, more than enough ford EDC and general outdoor activities. The light is drop resitant to 1.5 meter and water resistant to 2 meters for 30 mins. The optics is of TIR type. To charge the battery you have to unscrew the head only. Threads are well made and greased. | Operation specs: UI is ANDURIL, very easy UI if you only want to open light and ramp up or down, but a very very complex and features packed UI for enthusiast who like to explore. ”Standard Low is 120 lumen for 8h00 approx and high is 760 lumens for 8 min + 7.5h. There is a turbo stated to max out at 2800 lumen but will only do for a few second before goinf down near high level. All floor and ceiling levels are fully programmable to your liking. One click For ON and one click for OFF. Just HOLD the switch to cycle to the desired brightness in the ramping mode. Very easy operation. There is a 4 click electronick lockout doubled as a moonlight momentary that is REALLY useful. There is a Low voltage protection too. There is also a polarity protection like most of the nowadays flashlight. The strobe is accessed with Click, Click Hold and there is a few mode to choose from. You can also check the battery level via the UI. Finally the light also have auto stepdown to prevent overhesating. | Final thought: This flashlight is very good for EDC, short outdooring, work and for enthusiast. The flashlight is mainly engineered to be sleek, discreet and classys. Strenght are the looks, innovative UI, comapct and congrats to Lumintop for listening to the community and trying to put out new products. My only concerns about this light is the durability of the e-switch and i would like a better heat dissipation on the head since it can get warm quickly in that area.. | Conclusion : Great choice if you want a lot of power and features in a sleek flashlight. Also available in many leds choices.
